Hendersonville man gets 12 years probation for sales tax fraud

The president of Gourmet Pizza Plus Inc, Glen Irven McCarthy was sentenced to twelve years of probation for sales tax fraud in Hendersonville.

Judge Jane Wheatcraft of Sumner County Criminal Court, ordered McCarthy to serve one year in prison and sentenced him to twelve years of supervised probation, which will be held in abeyance as long as future tax returns are filed timely, according to a release by the Tennessee Department of Revenue.

In January, McCarthy, 48, pleaded guilty to twenty-one felony counts of sales tax fraud. The charges stemmed from an investigation that found McCarthy understating the sales tax liability of Gourmet Pizza Plus, he failed to report more than five hundred and fourty-six thousand dollars (US) in sales and failed to remit more than fourty-nine thousand dollars (US) in sales taxes collected and due.
